Acceptable Use Policy:
ELC Internet Services Acceptable Use Policy
1. You are entitled to one active dialup session per account. All dialup accounts are subject to a 30 minute inactivity disconnect. After a disconnect, you are free to
re-connect to the Internet. This is implemented to keep our overhead costs down and the service quality high. Unlimited access does not mean a dedicated, constant connection to our service. This is how we are able to NOT charge hourly rates. You may log on and off at your convenience, but
abusing a dialup account by remaining connected for unusually long amounts of time will result in an account review.
If you have need for a dedicated connection please contact us at
(979)234-5842.
2. ELC retains the right to raise your monthly access fee if your website accounts for more than 2% of the total bandwidth of our backbone over a period of one week. This will not occur without a warning period which you can use to correct the situation. If this continues,
ELC may raise your basic monthly rate.
3. ELC is not responsible for any long distance charges occurring as a result of incorrectly specifying or typing your dialup access phone number. We have local calling access for individual areas and you are responsible for determining which is correct for your calling area.
4. The content of your web-storage area is your responsibility. ELC prohibits the posting of material which is considered obscene, offensive or illegal in the United States, Texas, and Houston areas. We reserve the right to cancel or refuse any service we feel does not represent the best interest of
ELC’s clients or community goodwill.
5. ELC reserves the right to refuse or discontinue service of any account holder engaging in activities which cause harm to individuals
and or computers, making available materials which are offensive, copyrighted, or illegal, sending unsolicited email (junk
email).
6. ELC maintains backups of our servers, we disclaim any and all liability resulting from a situation in which we are unable to recover data in your storage areas after any form of data loss. These storage areas include but are not limited to our email servers, web servers, and shell account servers. You are cautioned and encouraged to keep a copy of any data posted and maintain your own backups.
7. ELC prohibits the resale of Internet access and/or web storage areas. Personal accounts may not be used for commercial purposes of any kind.
8. Misuse of electronic mail services is grounds for cancellation of services or deletion of your static mailbox. This misuse is defined by either leaving an extraordinary amount (more
than 1 megabyte) of mail on our server, 'mail bombing' others with unsolicited email, or any activity which drains a disproportionate amount of our mail server's resources.
9. ELC Internet Services, Inc., reserves the right to terminate or refuse service to anyone, at any time, for any reason.
Your payment of normal service fees is considered compliance and agreement with these policies.
